Corporate social responsibility is part of the fabric of iPower's business and culture. We believe it is important to give back to our community and encourage our staff to make an impact not only at work but also in the lives of others.
Cornerstones Embry Rucker Community Shelter (ERCS)
Our dedicated employees recently came together to volunteer in support of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter (ERCS), providing 120 sandwiches, snacks etc. for nutritious packaged lunches. This incredible 70-bed emergency shelter offers healthy, safe, emergency housing for individuals and families and is dedicated to helping clients overcome the circumstances that led to their homelessness, facilitating their transition to stable housing. Open 24/7, 365 days a year, ERCS employs 20 full-time staff members, several part-time staff, and over 400 volunteers dedicated to helping clients get back on their feet. It was a heartwarming experience, highlighting our commitment to giving back and supporting our community. Community and teamwork are at the core of what we do at iPower LLC. Together, we are making a positive impact.
The iPower team is proud to provide ongoing support to Food For Neighbors and organized a company-wide food drive as part of our 20th anniversary.
Food For Neighbors is a non-profit organization helping to feed students who struggle with hunger after school, on weekends, and during school holidays. They provide local middle and high schools with individual meals and snack items to distribute during these times when students might otherwise go hungry. They connect with their social workers and help the schools set up a weekend snack program to distribute the food.
Food for Neighbors relies on community support and in-kind donations from individuals, area businesses, local churches, and stores. They distribute Red Food Bags with a list of items needed and then collect the bags bimonthly on a Saturday.
The program began in Herndon where the local community has quickly responded to the need for food at our middle and high schools. Now students are benefitting weekly from the consistent and reliable source of donated food. Neighboring schools have heard about the organization and are now asking if they can bring our program to their middle and high schools.
Food for neighbors is excited to expand into other schools in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties! The goal is to end hunger for middle and high school students who live with food-insecurity.
There are now more than 650 kids receiving weekly food support at 8 local schools!
iPower is pleased to support the Erin Peterson Fund, and participated in their annual golf tournament at Westfields Golf Club.
About the Erin Peterson Fund: On April 16, 2007 on the Virginia Tech campus, Erin Peterson became one of the victims of the worst college shooting in history. Her's was a life that ended too soon. Erin was majoring in International Studies because she wanted to learn about other cultures, help the less fortunate around the world and be a force in bringing people together. She believed that a good education was the way to accomplish her goals.
With a big smile, Erin invited everyone into her circle of trust. She was a mentor, friend, opinionated debater, trusted confidant, gentle leader, powerful competitor, cool Christian and wonderful daughter. Because Erin seemed to bless everyone she touched, her legacy inspires all who knew her to live their lives to the fullest. The Erin Peterson Fund was formed May 9, 2007. Through the Erin Peterson Fund, we will ensure that her commitment to achieving excellence through education, helping the victimized, and being true to one's self never dies. Through generous donations and fundraisers, scholarships will be awarded to graduates who exemplify a love of life, dedication to learning, commitment to community, and strong leadership abilities.
